Director
of Animal Welfare for Van Nuys - Mr. Cliff Jacobs
Simply stated, I
became a DAW because of my compassion and love for animals; and abhorrence to
all forms of animal abuse and neglect.
I have supported
and contributed to the following organizations, some of which for over 25 years:
A.S.P.C.A
Humane Society
of the United States (HSUS)
North Shore
Animal League
LA-S.P.C.A
Animal Legal
Defense Fund (ALDF)
D.E.L.T.A.
Rescue (Dedication and Everlasting Love To Animals)
I have been
involved in animal rescue work since I was a child, by bringing home strays; by
nursing injured animals back to health; by caring for lost pets while locating
their owners; by fostering animals; and have helped at adoption events, and
assisted in births.
My political
involvement began in the 3rd grade in 1969 when I first learned of the atrocity
of clubbing baby seals. I got my class involved in a letter writing
campaign opposing this horror with the support of my Teacher, Miss Lucy.
The other 3rd grade classes joined in, and before long the other grades of East
Brook Elementary School, in Park Ridge, N.J. joined the cause.
I graduated from
Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of
Justice; and earned a Graduate Diploma in Paralegal Studies from N.Y.U. I
work for Personal Attorney Service in Van Nuys, providing legal support services
to over 1,000 law firms. My title is Out of County Manager, and I cover 55
of CA’s 58 counties daily.
Animal Cops is
my favorite TV show. I firmly stand for tougher penalties and stronger
legislation where animal abuse is concerned.
I currently
serve the Van Nuys community as a Board Member on the Van Nuys Neighborhood
Council; where I am an Executive Committee member, and also the Government
Relations Committee Chair.
I am fully
committed to the DAW program, and have the utmost respect and admiration for my
fellow DAWs. I will attend all DAW monthly meetings, and if elected will
attend all Executive Committee meetings.
THERE IS AN OLD
SAYING THAT IF YOU NEED TO GET SOMETHING DONE, GIVE IT TO A BUSY MAN; FOR HE
WILL FIND A WAY TO ACCOMPLISH THE TASK. I AM THAT MAN.
