Director of Animal Welfare for Culver City - Ms. Jenelle Clark

Ms. Jenelle Clark grew up in Brooklyn New York.  She has been an animal lover all her life.  Jenelle started riding horses when she was 7 yrs old and helping her Mom breed and raise Abyssinians since 12 yrs old.  After triumphing over 19 New York winters, she moved to Redondo Beach in 1989.  She spent her last 4 years in New York and her first 5 years in California schooling and working in the architectural field.  She found the field unfulfilling.

In June 1993 Jenelle was given Krypton the Great by a dear friend.  Krypton a 9 week old Brindle Mastiff Lab mix, dripping with fur & love.  He helped her find a job at a local veterinary hospital as a receptionist.  Over the next decade she worked her way up the hospital ladder to Practice Manager. Her fabulous employer sent her to continuing education classes for veterinary medicine, customer service and management skills semi-annually. “Helping pets was the one of my favorite things about my job.  My second favorite was educating owners about pet care and behavior. As the pets grew up you could see how your influences made a difference in their lives as well as in their guardian’s lives.”  Krypton and Jenelle worked as Humane Ed ucators for the SPCALA.  Helping young children learn how to take care of pet.

In 2002, Jenelle’s good friend Bonnie decided to sell her business, Pets and People Homefinders.  In March 2003 the deal was complete and Jenelle became the proud owner of Pets and People Homefinders (www.pets-people.com.)   This unfortunately this ended her career in  the veterinary field, but she is still helping pets and their people.  She now assists pet guardians in locating rental property that will accept their pets.  All breeds and species!  “Our goal is to keep families together and pets out the shelters and rescues.”  Pets and People Homefinders assists pet guardians from Ventura County down through San Diego County and San Francisco and the Bay area.  “We help current residents and people coming in from other states and other countries.  It is great to be able to make a stressful situation, moving, easier on people.  We save our members time by supplying them with properties that absolutely will accept their pet.”

Jenelle and her new dogs, the silly sisters - Millie Magnolia & Gypsy Rose own a home and work in Culver City .  They attend pet fairs, pet adoption, community events and rescue fund raisers all over southern California and the San Francisco area.  Jenelle teams up with fellow Topanga D.A.W. Robyn Feeley of Bungalow Art at the pet events.  Jenelle also assists the Friends of Culver City Animals in trying to secure a city based animal control officer and a city shelter (fcca@onebox.com for more info.)  She also assists in the creation of the Culver City Bone Yard dog park  (http://www.culvercitydogpark.org/main/001_home.cfm for more info, )  Free Play in getting us a long awaited Dog Beach (http://www.freeplay.org/  for more info,) and distributes the Pet Press to assist our community in obtaining various information on pet issues.   She looks forward to continue to assist the animal community in L.A. and beyond with this D.A.W. opportunity.
