Relations Committee Meeting Minutes Committee

B. Discussion about Vision Statement & Mission Statement for the Committee. Motion by Charlotte Laws, seconded by Vic Viereck. The vision statement for the Government Relations Committee reads as follows. “The GVGC Government Relations Committee gives stakeholders an opportunity to weigh in on public policy and government-related issues. The full Greater Valley Glen Council will then send recommendations to local and state officials in the form of community impact statements as well as written and verbal correspondence.” Motion passes unanimously.
The GVGC Government Relations will:
1. Keep up-to-date on City Council proposals and agenda items.
2. Weigh in on important issues.
3. Write proposals as needed.
4. Host a
5. Periodically reevaluate the committee’s mission statement and make changes as needed.
Motion made by Charlotte Laws, seconded by Vic Viereck. Passes unanimously.
C. Laurette Healy, who was scheduled to speak on Prop 7, cancelled at the last minute. There was no discussion on this agenda item.
D. Neighborhood Council Financial Disclosure (Form 52): Motion made by Charlotte Laws and seconded by Stan Friedman as follows: “The GVGC opposes any requirement that NC boardmembers fill out Form 52 or Form 700. Neighborhood Councils are advisory in nature and boardmembers are unpaid volunteers. Requirements related to Form 52 or Form 700 would hinder participation in the neighborhood council system.” Motion passes unanimously.
E. Boardmember comments. Vic Viereck mentioned parcel tax, anti-gang tax and transit tax.
F. Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 7 pm.
