LA City Task Force on
Designated Smoking Areas on City Beaches
On June 19th, 2004 an ordinance went into
effect that prohibits smoking on City beaches. Councilmember LaBonge has
introduced a Motion requesting the Chief Legislative Analyst to convene a task
force to look into the possibility of designating smoking areas on City
beaches. The Motion requests that Neighborhood Councils be included in
this task force.
A meeting will be held at City Hall on July 8th at 10 AM to discuss this
matter. I will notify you of the room location once I confirm the number
of attendees. If your neighborhood council is interested in this matter,
please let me know how many people will be attending the meeting. If no
one is able to attend, you may send or fax a letter indicating whether you
would support or oppose designated smoking areas
